Host A Super 7’s Party, Win A Prize?

Super Bowl parties are soooo ten years ago. If you want to be with the times, then you need to host a Super 7’s party. That’s right, take all of your Super Bowl planning and energy and funnel it towards the upcoming USA 7’s tournament in Las Vegas. It sure beats putting all of that time and effort only to trudge through 700 overated commercials with snippets of football in between. Your guests deserve better and rugby is the answer.

Can’t be at the USA 7’s in person? The next best thing is to share the fast pace, action, and hitting with a houseful of friends and family. They’ll never forget it and will mark the date for next year.

The best part about it all? You have two nights to pick from… Saturday or Sunday. NBC is airing live from the USA 7’s both days. If you’re into the pool stages, and not having to go to work the next morning, then Saturday is your day. NBC is live from Las Vegas 3:30-6:00pm EST on Saturday February 12th. Pre-game festivities can start early, remember no work on Sunday, and linger on after the final game is shown. Pool play gives a great cross-section of the teams involved and you’re guaranteed to see Team USA play at least one game!

Want to showcase the finals? Then you’ll want to plan your party for Sunday. NBC airs from 4:30-6:00pm EST on Sunday February 13th which gets you live coverage of the championship games in the Shield, Bowl, Plate, and Cup. The Cup Championship is the main event that culminates the evening, the tournament, and it is not to be missed.

If you’re feeling brave, just go ahead and make it a whole weekend of festivities.

What’s not to like? Sixteen of the world’s best Olympic 7’s teams filled with some of the very best athletes to walk the Earth. Two days of hard hitting action at your disposal and without all of the boring extras for which the NFL’s Super Bowl has become synonymous.

The USA 7’s tournament broadcasting live on NBC is a golden opportunity to share the sport of rugby with those that are uninitiated. So, dust off your serving dishes, buy some plastic cups, get on the web to find some new finger food recipes, and start your planning.

Stuck for ideas? Look no further than the sixteen team field for the USA 7’s. Each nation has their own twist on food that can be incorporated into your party.

You have four weeks to prepare. Plenty of time.

Now get to it.

While you’re at it, check out the Rugby America Facebook page and become a fan. Take some pictures from your Super 7’s Rugby Party. Make sure they’re PG(ish) and that the shot includes one of the games on in the background. After your party is over, post them at the Rugby America Facebook page and have a chance to win one of three great prizes.

1st Prize: A pair of field level (2 day) tickets to the Collegiate Rugby Championship in Philadelphia in June.

2nd Prize: A copy of A Giant Awakens

3rd Prize: Official program from the 2011 USA 7’s
