Rugby News & Views From an American Perspective
Universal Sports is NBC’s sports platform and is loaded with coverage of Olympic sports. In the past year as NBC has gotten on board with rugby, Universal Sports has become a bigger player in providing rugby coverage in the United States. That committment is only going to continue in the coming years as Universal Sports is now providing expanded coverage of the HSBC World Series and later this year will have full coverage of the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
The biggest problem is that Universal Sports is still not available in most homes. While they provide an online platform for watching games, nothing beats being able to view (or DVR) games to watch on your own TV. Dish Network, DirecTV, and AT&T currently do not have the Universal Sports Channel in their offerings.
If you’d like to poke your provider about carrying Universal Sports, the process has been simplified to the point where it takes less than a minute.
