USRFF: Become a Member of the Higgy Hundred

As you know, the Kevin Higgins College Scholarship Fund — which honors your friend and one of the greatest talents to ever pull on a United States Eagle jersey — is the Foundation’s vehicle to support college students who have demonstrated their commitment to pursuing rugby at the collegiate level. All graduating high school senior rugby players in the US who are dedicated to playing rugby while in college are eligible for the $1,000 scholarships.

Once again, you can join a team that …….while it no longer includes that dashing, spirited, warrior presence on the pitch…….. is a team dedicated to the continuance of Higgy’s memory and is a growing team committed to reaching out to assist young rugby players develop and advance their skills in college.

You, better than most anyone, knows the importance of high school and collegiate rugby in forming the foundation of our club teams, our national teams, and our Olympic teams of the future. We all need to step up to that challenge and are asking you to join our team.

As a means to increasing the number of annual scholarships, the Foundation has established “The Higgy Hundred” to both further honor Kevin and to nurture our country’s rugby future. Our goal is to endow the Fund so that at least 10 scholarships are given out annually.

You can join “The Higgy Hundred” by contributing just $100 to the Kevin Higgins College Scholarship Fund. A gift of $250 puts you in “Higgy’s Captain’s Club”.

By becoming a member of either The Higgy Hundred or Higgy’s Captain’s Club, you will receive a Higgy Hundred t-shirt. Higgy’s Captain’s Club members will also receive a Higgy Hundred visor.

Please don’t delay. Act now, be a winner, and join Higgy’s team once again.

Former Eagles Ray Green Lends His Support to the Higgins Fund

“Higgy was the first call I made from Ireland after I got the nod for my first cap,” says former U.S. Eagle center Ray Green.

Kevin coached Ray at the University of California and encouraged him to join OMBAC, Kevin’s home club. “When I told Kevin I wanted to make a go at the Eagles, he met me one on one, twice a week to work on my speed and skills until I got the call. A great player, great mentor and a great man.”

Ray is donating $1 for every copy of his ebook, www.wheniwasgreat.com  , downloaded through the remainder of 2012 to the Kevin Higgins Scholarship Fund. Please enjoy a quick, witty rugby read or give as a holiday gift to your favorite rugger for $3.99 and support this great effort.

Sincerely,

Brian Vizard
