Houston Sevens Schedule of Events

HoustonRugby7seblastheaderHOUSTON, Texas – Media are invited to attend a series of events featuring members of the 12 international women’s rugby teams beginning Tuesday, January 29 through Saturday, February 2.

All teams will be available Wednesday, January 30 and Thursday, January 31 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during training sessions at Houston Amateur Sports Park.  See the attached list of team liaisons to coordinate interviews and filming opportunities directly.

The Women’s Rugby 7s World Series international tournament will take place on February 1 & 2.  Gates open at 12:30 p.m. with matches beginning at 1 p.m. both days.

The Texas High School Showcase featuring the boys rugby 15s Cup match will take place on Friday, February 1st between St Thomas High School and The Woodlands High School immediately following the tournament.

Tournament Details

The International Rugby Women’s Sevens World Series will take place at BBVA Compass Stadium on February 1 & 2 and feature12 international women’s teams.  This two-day International Series, the first of its kind for women, signifies the IRB’s on-going growth and development of women’s rugby around the world.  The event will take place annually in Houston through 2015, leading up to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, where rugby will debut as one of the new Olympic sports.  Two-day passes are available starting at $15 and individual tickets starting at $10; tickets are available online at, or by calling 888-929-7849 or at the BBVA Compass Stadium Ticket Office, which is open Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
